Omanyala feted

African 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala is the winner of the SJAK/LG Sports Personality award for the month of August.

Omanyala was recognized for his historic Commonwealth Games where he edged South African holder Akani Simbine to claim a rare international sprint gold for Kenya.

Omanyala walked away with an LG Artificially Intelligent 8kg washing machine retailing at Ksh.105,000 after edging out compatriots including; Billy Odhiambo who racked up his 100th career try at the World Rugby Sevens in Los Angeles.

Others were Mary Moraa who also bagged gold in 800m at the Commonwealth Games and Hellen Wawira who claimed bronze in the para-power lifting.

Despite missing out on the podium at the World Championships in Oregon, Omanyala said he is happy with his accomplishments this year having also won two gold medals at the Africa Championships.
